Butterfly Breakthrough: A God-Ordained Metamorphosis

“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” - Jeremiah 1:5 NLT

Did you know you were alive before being born? That you had a full spirit before being wrapped in flesh and blood? There is a you that you may or may not be fully aware of depending on where you are in your journey in Christ of if you have yet to know Him. In a generation that tries to find their identity through fame, fortune, addiction, multiple intimate partners, even in a ministry title or position, none of these things can answer for the questions that you need answered concerning the true you. We look for affirmation for many reasons. Maybe we suffered rejection at the hands of a bully at school, a person we had deep romantic feelings for, or unfortunately a parent that was abusive, absent, addicted, or all of the above. You may be ashamed because when you look in the mirror, you see someone you never knew or an ancestor whose bad choices plagued your bloodline until now. No amount of money, hugs, mentors, or mother and father figures could fill the void left by a parent that abandoned or abused you, oh how I wish it could! But while God can’t go back in time and change the circumstances of your life, He can go back and remind you of who you were before the DNA of your natural family was ever involved.

You see, God tells Jeremiah that before he was even conceived in his mother’s womb, He KNEW him! He had a relationship with him. He claimed Him! Before your parents loved or lusted on eachother which resulted in your conception, you had and still have a DNA that supersedes your natural blood. The beautiful truth is you were one of God’s sons and daughters long before you were the child of your parents, before you were entered into the DNA of a family tree. Whether your mother or father was not there, if they thought about aborting you, if you almost did not survive your birth or developed various diseases later on, none of it matters!! If you are reading this right now that means you survived! You are breaking past every natural limitation that blinds you from your true identity as a child of God!

You were born with power, and your very soul emanates with God’s presence just like when He breathed life into Adam’s lungs. Your spirit is an extension of God’s own! You literally belong to Him in every way possible, more than you belong to your family or even yourself. He is your inheritance and reward. When the Bible says you are a co-heir with Jesus Christ, it means you are His brothers and sisters. When God adopts us when we accept Jesus as Lord, He is literally claiming us back!! We are being reunited with our true Father and shedding off the nature we was born into!

Like it says in 1 Corinthians 13:12 “For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.” When you embrace your true identity as God’s child, you enter a season of reflection, where everytime you look in the mirror, you see less of yourself, less of your flaws, less of the parents you never knew, and less of the generational curses that try to plague. You become more and more like your Father each day. With every seed sown, prayer prayed, fast fasted, and tear shed, the cocoon of carnality falls off and you truly become once again the butterfly that you always been in heaven! Your wings are breaking out in this season, and you will no longer crawl in chaos and confusion! It’s time to soar into healing, soar into joy, and soar into your inheritance! You are looking more and more like your Father each day!
